Leslie E. Dumas, born on December 7, 1922, in Malone, NY, passed away May 12, 2024 in Sarasota, Fl, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved son of Walter and Anna (Brockway) Dumas. Leslie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Les proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII, stationed in the South Pacific as a medical supply platoon specialist. After his military service, Les had a successful career as a buyer and department manager for 27 years at E.W. Edwards & Son. He then embarked on his second career as the owner of Acme Septic Services for 10 years, eventually passing the business on to his son. A dedicated member of the community, Les was actively involved in various organizations including the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, and was a parishioner for 40 years at Our Lady of Lourdes in Syracuse, NY, and 21 years at St. Stephens Church in Grand Island, NY. In his free time, Les enjoyed indulging in his hobbies and interests such as golfing, bowling, hunting, playing horseshoes, and engaging in a friendly card game. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 40 years, Jean (Travers) Dumas, and his second wife of 20 years, Mary (Zehner) Dumas. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Ken, Bill, Edgar, Norm, Darrell, and sisters Rita, Kaye, Joan, and Gerry. Leslie is survived by his loving daughter's Suzanne (Paul) Parrott, Denise (Jerry) Cianfriglia and son Andre (Renea) Dumas. Grandchildren Randy (Jenn) Parrott, Renee Carolin, Robin (Kirk) Groninga, Tiffany (Shaun) Mullin, Jason (Deanna) Dumas, Ashley (Nick) Nadeau. He is also survived by his cherished great-grandchildren Jacob, Tyler, Alanna, Alex, Ryleigh, Hailee, Lincoln, London, William, Dominic, Charlee, Makaela, Alex, CJ, and Sophia. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Bernice Gonyea and brother Clarence (Viva) Dumas, he has an abundance of nieces & nephews. Along with his devoted friend Sandy Caffrey and her family Eileen (Mike) Torrance, Patricia (Joe) Roncone and Linda (Mike) Richter and the many friends he made along the way. Calling Hours will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 9AM to 10:30AM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady of Hope Church (old St. James Church) at 11AM. Burial will follow at Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to www.HonorFlightSyracuse.org He was known for his witty sense of humor and unique sayings, including his favorite, "Les is More" and his humorous habit of calling every girl he met "Marilyn." Leslie E. Dumas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends will forever be cherished.
