Paul L. (Pops) Carroll

Paul L. (Pops) Carroll, 90, of La Fayette NY passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024, at home with his loving family at his side. Paul was a proud Navy Veteran of the Korean War serving on the USS Abbott and a founding member of the La Fayette VFW post 1955. Paul loved to tell stories of his time in the Navy. He was a member of the All Onondaga County Varsity basketball team in 1950. He was a member of the La Fayette Volunteer Fire Dept and Athletic Booster Club. He also volunteered at the Church booth at the Apple Festival frying apple fritters for many years. He retired from Grand Union Grocery Stores after 35 years of service. Paul was a dedicated husband, father and Pops. He spent many years watching his six son’s sporting events and never missed a single game or match. He loved to play golf with friends and family. Paul will be remembered by his infectious smile, his perfect head of silver hair and his love of anything sweet. His eyes would light up when family and friends would come for a visit. Paul is predeceased by his beloved wife, Carolyn Herold Carroll, a brother James Carroll a sister, Dorothy Hockey and parents Henry and Sara Carroll. He is survived by 6 sons, Paul Jr. (Sandra Lynn) of Knoxville, TN, Michael (Kim Foster-Carroll) of Hopkinton, MA, Daniel (Anne) of Earlville, NY, Robert (Becky) of La Fayette, NY, John (Heather Schrader-Carroll) of La Fayette NY, and Kevin (Christine) of Jamesville, NY. 25 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Henry Carroll and a sister Anne Root; and several nieces, nephews and close friends, especially Ron and Pat Unger who helped care for him. The family would like to thank Dad’s medical team especially Dr.Digant Nanavati and Dr. William Berkery. Calling Hours will be Friday, May 3, 2024, from 4-7PM at The Church of the Nativity at St. Joseph's, La Fayette, NY. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10AM, at the church. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Pompey, NY.
