Jane "Janie" A. Thomas

Ms. Jane Thomas, age 94, of Archer, FL, passed away on May 9, 2024, at the UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. She was born on January 13, 1930, in Corning, NY, to Hiram and Nettie VanBuskirk. Jane grew up on a farm in New York and attended a little red school house until her high school years where she graduated from Corning High, class of 1949. She soon married Howard Woodruff and the couple had their only child, Pamela, in 1951. Jane worked at the Westinghouse plant in Bath, NY, for 10 years before she moved to Syracuse, NY. There she worked for Agway until her retirement. While in Syracuse, she met Charles Johnston and they enjoyed 18 years of marriage until his death. Jane then met Paul Thomas. The couple moved to Florida in 1997 to enjoy retirement. After 12 years of marriage, Mr. Thomas passed. Jane loved playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed cooking and crocheting. She was a devoted member of the Landmark Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; and her siblings, Warren and Louise. Ms. Jane is survived by her daughter, Pamela Woodruff of Archer, FL; grandsons, Jamie (Rita) Bush of Syracuse and Scott (Jennifer) Bush of MI; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 4 nieces and 1 nephew also survive. Calling Hours will be Monday, May 20, 2024 from 10AM to 12PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Lafayette, NY. Services will follow at 12PM at the funeral Home. Burial will follow at the LaFayette Rural Cemetery.
