Joseph Greenleaf

Joseph Greenleaf of Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of Garnerville, NY succumbed to complications due to Lewy Body Dementia on October 16, 2018 at age 77. Joseph was the son of Robert Greenleaf and Gladys (Mullen) (previously deceased) of Bronx, NY. Joseph was an avid Giant fan, a lover of golf, fishing and spending time with countless friends, and family; especially his grandchildren. He was often referred to as the life of the party as he loved music, dancing and singing. He was a former exalted ruler of the Haverstraw Elks Lodge 877 (2008 - 2009), and a member of the American Legion, The Knights of Columbus and The Moose Lodge. Joe will be dearly missed by his loving family,as well as many friends of South Carolina and New York. Joe was a Foreman at Con Edison Utility Company in the City of New York for 38 years before becoming Field Operation Manager for Con Edison Communications Inc., retiring 6 years later. Joseph is survived by his wife of 54 years Anne of Murrells Inlet, S. Carolina, his sons Joseph Greenleaf of Stony Point, NY, Robert Greenleaf and wife Mercedes (Cabo) of Garnerville, NY, daughter Justine Ciorra and husband Paul of Blauvelt, NY. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Robert, Madison, Hannah and Paul, his brother Robert of Yonkers NY, sisters Rosemary Jones of Northvale, NJ, Gladys Chandler of Bristol, Con and Teresa (Andy) Prezioso of Prescott Valley, Arizona. He is also survived by countless nieces and nephews. Joseph is predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Ann. The Family will receive friends & family on Sun. Oct 21st from 2-4 & 7 – 9 PM at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Joe on Mon Oct 22nd at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point with Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Lewy Body Dementia Association Inc, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047. The family would like to thank the staff of Embrace Hospice House of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for giving support to our family during this most difficult time. A Memorial service will be held for Joe at a later date in Murrells Inlet S. Carolina.
