Eileen Gallagher

Eileen Patricia Gallagher, née Nevin, went home to God on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. She was 50 years old and lived in Stony Point with her loving husband Thomas Gallagher and three terrific children: Erin, Aidan, and Ciera. She was pre-deceased by her beloved father Michael Nevin. She is survived by her mother, Joan Nevin; brother Michael Nevin (Mari); sister Sharon Drumgoole (Paul); her husband's parents, Tom and Margaret Gallagher; sister-in-law Tricia Stierle (Mike); brother-in-law Brian Gallagher (Jessica); one niece, seven nephews, and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Eileen was born in the Bronx and grew up in Nanuet. After receiving her degree from Ramapo College, Eileen had a very successful career in the pharmaceutical industry working at companies such as Lederle Labs/Wyeth/Pfizer and Regeneron. Her passion in life was her family, and working hard to provide for them. Eileen and Thomas were married on November 11, 2000. They welcomed Erin into the world on June 24, 2002. Erin excels at track and inherited her mother's strong work ethic. Eileen's handsome baseball and basketball star Aidan came along on January 20, 2004. Ciera completed the family on May 8, 2008. She is a passionate cheer team member and artist. Tom cared for Eileen around the clock in her last months of life. Those of us who were with Eileen in her final days noticed Ciera's handmade bracelets on her wrists. One of Eileen's proudest moments with Ciera was when Ciera had to dress up as her hero for school, and Ciera chose to wear her mother's cross and sweatshirt because her mother is her hero. Eileen's hospice nurses and other medical care providers were in constant awe of her will to live and toughness. She is a loving example of "never giving up." Her tenacity, zest for life, and sense of fun endeared her to all who met her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to United Hospice of Rockland in memory of Eileen. Eileen suffered and was tested in a way that few of us can even imagine, and she continued carrying her cross and kept the faith. Her example will serve as an inspiration to all who knew her, and most especially to her three children. They saw how far a mother’s love extends. When life is difficult, they can take solace in the fact that their mother was the most courageous person any of us have ever known. Ciera had the right idea when she dressed up as her hero. When life is hard, we can all dress up as Eileen Gallagher. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
