Margaret M. Sullivan

Margaret M. Sullivan, age 85, was born March 20, 1936 in New York City to James and Margaret (Finnegan) McMullan. Margie passed August 1, 2021 with her grateful family at her side after an 8-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The eldest of 3 siblings, Margie graduated St. Vincent Ferrer High School and enjoyed many good times with all her McMullen and Finnegan cousins. Margie and Daniel Sullivan were married Nov 9, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Church. As their family grew, they moved to Garnerville, NY and St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish in 1964 to raise their five children. Margie enjoyed her time helping children as an aide for Haverstraw Transit for 20 years. Besides her work, she was at St Gregory’s and Albertus Magnus, volunteering and sharing her time for any cause for over 40 years. Margie’s greatest joy was spending time with her children, daughters-in-law, and precious grandchildren. She loved the beaches of Long Beach Island; Sunday afternoons at Crane’s, playing cards and laughing with her incredible friends and of course relaxing with her loyal Yorkies at her side. Famous for her humor, quick wit and compassion, Margie always made everyone feel welcome in her home. She made any moment brighter and the world a better place. She will be missed each day by her devoted children, Dan (Suzann) of Stony Point, Tricia of Garnerville, Stephen (Laura) of Wake Forest, NC, Larry (Moira) of Stony Point and Jimmy of Garnerville. Margie’s grandchildren, Daniel, Meaghan, Jack, Thomas, Maggie Kate, and Emily will have an Angel watching over them forever. Margie is also survived by her brother Jim (Josephine) McMullan, Hilton Head, SC and was predeceased by her parents, sister Betty, son Gerard, husband Dan. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margie’s name can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association – Hudson Valley Chapter, 2649 South Rd. Suite 101 Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 The family will receive friends & relatives on Sunday August 8th from 4-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home at 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Margaret on Monday, August 9th at 11:00am at St Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville. Burial immediately following at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont N.Y.
