Catherine Ann Boccardi
June 15th, 1945 - December 5th, 2022
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Catherine Ann Boccardi at 77 years of age. Cathy passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Cathy was born on June 15, 1945 in Spring Valley, NY. She was adopted shortly thereafter and is predeceased by Joseph and Margaret Smith, also of Spring Valley, and their two sons Edgar and Joseph. Cathy graduated from Spring Valley High School. Her first job was a telephone operator at New York Telephone. Over the span of lifetime, Cathy later worked at Robert L. Yeager Health Center in Pomona, NY as a seamstress, Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw, NY, as a telephone operator, the Marian Shrine in the bookstore and she retired in 2021 from Beckerle Lumber where she worked in the Haverstraw location in billing for almost 19 years. Cathy was an avid reader. She loved shopping with her daughter, Lorraine, and she could get lost in stores for hours just rummaging. She also loved playing solitaire, sending daily jokes to her family, watching Hallmark movies, and her devotion and love of animals, especially the countless dogs that she rescued and became family. Her most recent little girl, Bella, has been by her side for the last 9 years. Cathy’s favorite time of year was Christmas, and while she didn’t enjoy driving in it, she loved the snow. Cathy was able to reconnect with her loving siblings Judy, Grace, Bobby and Danny and is predecease by her sister, Cathy. She is also predeceased by her loving husband of almost 32 years, Thomas A. Boccardi. She leaves behind her loving three daughters Laurie Boccardi of West Haverstraw, NY, Kathleen Bocchino (Steven) of East Stroudsburg, PA, and Lorraine Boccardi of West Haverstraw, NY; ten grandchildren who she cherished: Mellissa Nava, Jennifer Williams, Christina Suarez, Michael Matos, Edward T. Soto, Katelyn Matos, Amanda Soto, Stevie Bocchino, Jessica Boccardi, and Anthony Soto; and 8 great-grandchildren who she adored: Jocelynn, Jayden, Xavier, Blake, Maya, Gabriel, IvyAna, and McKenzlee.
