Martin F. Brophy, 89, of Haverstraw, NY passed away on March 20, 2021. He was born on May 3, 1931 to Martin and Katie Brophy on Clove Avenue in Haverstraw, NY and resided there his whole life. Martin married Roseanne (Perini) on August 31, 1957 in St. Peters Church and they shared 62 years together. Martin served in the United States Navy and then worked at US Gypsum for over 30 years. He was an active member at St. Peters church and at the Haverstraw Elks Lodge 877. Martin enjoyed spending time with his family, going to church, reading the newspaper, watching Jeopardy, and cracking jokes. Martin is survived by his children Maryanne Slain of Wallingford, CT, Martin (Annemarie) of Stony Point, Michael of Haverstraw, Matthew of Lincoln, NE, James of Garnerville, his grandchildren Brittney, Sean, Elizabeth, Kevin, Michael, Danny, Paul & Scott, his brother in law John (Rosemary) Perini of Middletown and numerous nieces and nephews. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Roseanne; son, Kevin; his parents, Katie and Martin; his siblings, John, Theresa, Frances, Emily, Adelaide, and Eleanor. The family will receive friends & relatives on Thursday, March 25th from 4-8pm at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home at 133 Broadway Haverstraw, NY. A Christian Mass will be offered on Friday, March 26th at 10am at St. Peters Church in Haverstraw, NY, with Interment to follow in the F.W. Loescher Rockland County Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Martin’s memory to St. Peters Church, 115 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY 10927.
