William M. Gregware
September 2nd, 1928 - August 31st, 2018
William (Bill) Michael Gregware, age 89, of Richmond, Virginia, died on Friday, August 31, 2018, two days shy of his 90th birthday. He was born on September 2, 1928 in Waukesha, WI to Floyd and Alice (nee Connor) Gregware. On October 2,1948 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Gregware. Bill grew up in Waukesha and graduated from Waukesha High School on June 14, 1947. He started his auto mechanic career at Dale Chevrolet. Later he owned and operated the Westside Motors automobile repair garage. He also worked at Wisconsin Centrifugal for more than 20 years as part of the maintenance team. Bill was handy at repairing/building anything. In retirement he helped his wife, installing the curtains she skillfully created and helping neighbors with house remodeling projects. He lived in Waukesha the majority of his life, raising his family. After retirement at age 65, he moved with Dorothy to Sun City, Arizona for 14 years and enjoyed the company of neighbors, friends and visitors. After Dorothy and his daughter Sue passed away in Sun City, Bill experienced health issues and moved to Richmond, Virginia to live with Jim and Betty for six years. When his dementia progressed he moved to Beth Sholom Home (assisted living/nursing facility) for the last five years. Bill is survived by his children: Michael (Barbara) Gregware, Thomas (Sandra) Gregware both of Waukesha, WI, James (Betty) Gregware of Richmond, VA, Vicki (William) Gregware-Hess of Milwaukee, WI, Mary (Jeffrey) Ewing of Genesee Depot, WI, and Patrick (Johnny Garcia) Gregware of Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren: Emma and Kayla Ewing, Charlize Jax, Maxx Amelia and Simon Garcia-Gregware, Benjamin, Jenna, Joshua, Justin (Kelsie), and Nicholas (Stephanie) Gregware, Melissa (Troy) Hansen, Michelle (Chris) Pakula, and Theresa (Corey) Weisrock. Great-Grandchildren: Naviyd and Arriyana Gallardo, Andrew, Logan, Mia Rose, and William Gregware, Meadow and Samantha Hansen, Alessondra and Dominic Pakula, Autumn and Kyle Sperk, Madisyn, Peyton and Brady Weisrock. Great-great-grandchild Annaliese Taft. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by parents, wife Dorothy, daughter Susan Noben and great-granddaughter Ashley Pakula. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, S38 W31602 Wern Way Waukesha, WI 53189. Visitation will take place at the Church (see address above) from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A private inurnment of Bill’s cremains will take place at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Genesee Depot, WI. Memorials may be directed to Beth Sholom Home, 1600 John Rolfe Parkway, Richmond, VA 23238.
