Mementos

Our little bro, born at Columbia Hospital Milwaukee shortly after the Wick family moved to Wauwatosa from Minnesota. Nicknamed Toe-knee-chest-nut he was always the tag-a-long. He moved with Mom and Dad to every stop along the way: Detroit, Virginia, Arkansas and back to Milwaukee. He finished high school at Robert E. Lee in Virginia and gravitated to fast cars, his GTO and Cutlass. His diagnosis of schizophrenia in Virginia was difficult and the macular degeneration in 1981 severely limited him. When Mom and Dad moved to Arkansas upon retirement they found hope and support in an excellent program for Tony, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. With their move back to Wisconsin, Tony secured independent living with help from Waukesha County Mental Health. They paired him with Patrick which allowed them both a degree of autonomy for the next 17 years. Pat did the grilling/cooking and they both enjoyed music (Lynyrd Skynyrd), wrestling, smokes and food. Throw in a Brewer or Packer game on the TV and Tony was a happy man. Then came the final three months of major weight loss, tests and medical issues that overwhelmed Tony’s fragile health.Donations in lieu of flowers to: National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI),Online: donate.nami.org. Mail: NAMI, PO Box 49104, Baltimore, MD 21297. Phone: 1-888-999-NAMI (6264) We miss him already but he was tired and a cure was not to be. So let’s wish him a long deserved rest and toast to his life. Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Marjorie Wick. Survived by siblings Mary and Fred Kubiak, Dave and Sandy Wick, Tim and Cindy Wick, Rita and Mike Gluckstein and Paul and Mandy Wick. Also survived by many nephews and nieces.
