Norbert Edward Overkamp was called home on July 24, 2022. Norbert was born on October 17, 1933 in Rhineland, MO to Emil and Clementine (née Van Beek) Overkamp. The family moved to Hermann, MO in 1942, where Norbert met his beloved wife Bernadette (née Klott). The highschool sweethearts married August 25, 1956 at Saint Joseph's Church in Little Berger, MO. He began working for Amron Corporation in 1952, where he continued for 44 years and which offered him an employment opportunity in Waukesha, WI. He moved with Bernadette in 1958, and also worked at Sentry Foods for 15 years. Norbert was an especially gifted and meticulous tinkerer, producing clever Christmas ornaments, building a basement rec. room, crafting shelves, or creating birdfeeder stands (and more) -- all with an exacting quality and integrity. He had a wonderful mind that he kept sharp with various word puzzles, and his wit was second to none. He delivered clever one-liners to anyone with whom he spoke, including fondly referring to himself as Bernadette's "old dog." He liked westerns and watching Jeopardy. He enjoyed spending time at home and caring for the yard and its inhabitants. He would coin family phrases reflecting his appreciation for the natural world around the house, like "Bird, bird, bird!" for hummingbird sightings or "Frrrritz!" to refer to a sassy squirrel. Above all, Norbert was a very loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and son. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Oscar and Lawrence, his sister, Barbara Stock, and a nephew, Alan Overkamp. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette, their 6 children--Debra Neuman, Karen Overkamp (Scott Rosenbloom), Larry Overkamp (Linda), Greg Overkamp (Akane), Amy Dunaway (Tim), and Matthew Overkamp--thirteen grandchildren: Dr. Nichole Neuman, Michael Neuman, Jenna Rosenbloom, Rachel Rosenbloom, Noel Overkamp, Emily Overkamp, Kelsey Overkamp, Karina Overkamp, Alto Overkamp, Ben Dunaway, Allison Dunaway, Brianna Overkamp, and Ellie Overkamp, and other nieces and nephews. All who knew Norbert knew he had an insatiable sweet tooth -- each time you have a Three Musketeers or mini Hershey's bar, think of him and keep his memory alive. Services will be private, according to his wishes. Memorials can be sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Conference at St. John Neumann (Waukesha) or ProHealth AngelsGrace Hospice (Oconomowoc).
