Elizabeth "Beth" A. Miller, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, with her loving family by her side after battling breast cancer at the age of 47 years. She was born in Janesville, WI on September 8, 1966, the daughter of Glenn and Delores (Port) Platteter. Beth married the love of her life, Rick Miller, on August 12, 1989. She graduated from the University of Nevada Reno where she was valedictorian of her class and received her master's degree at the University of Walden. Beth worked as a Nurse at the Community Health Care and then at the Veteran's Hospital in Milwaukee for two and a half years. She was a member of the National Nursing Association. Beth enjoyed knitting, cross stitch, and basket weaving, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Beth will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 25 years on August 12th, Rick; her children, Jessica and Kyle; her parents; her brothers, Jim (Ed Stathus) Platteter and Dan (Sally) Platteter; niece, Brook; step-niece and nephew, Michella and Michael; special aunt, Nancy Falter; uncle and aunt Donald "Doc" and Mary Port; cousins, Laura Zulueta, Carl and Peter Falter, and Greg Port, and in-laws, Milo and Shirley Miller. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. The visitation for Beth will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the 12:30 p.m. Memorial Service on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll Street, Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev. Kathy Boadwine will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Beth may be given to Susan G. Komen Foundation, 2025 W. Oklahoma Ave. Suite 116, Milwaukee, WI 53215. Beth wanted to thank Dr. Qumar, Dr. Ziaja, and Dr. Mikkelson and the St. Luke's Medical Center's Staff for their dedication, compassion, and friendship.
