Darwin D. Meissner
October 25th, 1919 - October 5th, 2012
A lifelong resident of Hartland, was born to eternal life on Friday, October 05, 2012, at the age of 92 years. Darwin was born on October 25, 1919, son of William and Ida (nee Manke) Meissner. On April 7, 1945, Darwin married the love of his life, Alice Lees. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Merton and formerly of Calvary Baptist Church, Menomonee Falls, and Lisbon United Presbyterian Church, Sussex. Darwin enjoyed traveling and a cottage on Goose Lake, WI; but his life's joy was working the dairy farm that his father before him, and his son after him, worked. He was born and died in the same bedroom of the farmhouse his father built in 1906. He was content in quietly, humbly and faithfully serving his family and his Lord. Darwin will be dearly missed by his children, Carol (Thomas) Plant of Hartland, Robert (Terry) Meissner of Hill City, South Dakota, Gerald (Laura) Meissner of Hartland and Darlene (Tony) Igl of Oconomowoc; grandchildren, Kevin Gaul, Jason (Jennifer) Gaul, Mark (Kellie) Meissner, Carly (RJ) Elliot, Chad (Morgan) Meissner, Aaron (Corinne) Meissner, Jessica (Tate) Dillow, Andrew (Elaine) Meissner, William Meissner, Melinda Wilcox, Andrea Wilcox and Nicholas Wilcox; great-grandchildren, Braden, Kaiton, Sydney, McKayla, Ben, Josiah, Elise, Addison, Allister, Titus, Levi, Micah, Jacob, Rebecca, Samuel, Ashleigh, Jordan, Mackenzie and Mason. Darwin will also be missed by other relatives, dear friends and his dedicated caregivers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, great-granddaughters, Amanda and Molly; parents; and five brothers and four sisters. The visitation for Darwin will be held from 3:00PM until the time of the 6:00PM service on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Merton, N65 W28217 Hickory Hill Dr., Merton, WI 53056. The Reverend Darrel Schrock will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Baptist Church of Merton (please see address above) are appreciated. Burial will be held at the Lisbon Merton Union Cemetery on Wednesday, October 10, at 10:30 AM (please meet at the cemetery).
