Gerald Jerome Fischer Of Waukesha, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 82 years old. He was born on October 7, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI to Arthur and Hilda (nee Kuda) Fischer. Gerald married Kathleen (nee Komis) Fischer on April 14, 1951. Gerald was a carpenter and worked as job site foreman for many notable local projects including; small mammal building at Milwaukee Zoo, Milwaukee Marina, several local bakeries, restaurants, and car dealerships. He was proud to be a member of the carpenter's union for more than 50 years. Gerald was an avid gardener, loved to camp & fish, and was very involved with activities of his two grandsons including: music concerts and sports events. He had a kidding sense of humor and a great smile that warmed your heart when you'd see his face. Gerald will be missed by his wife, Kathleen; his children, Kathy (John) Lord of Lauderdale by the Sea, FL, Gregory (Tamara) Fischer of Iowa City, IA, Karen (Peter) Fischer-Hannes of Ocala, FL, and Glen (Cathy) Fischer of Muskego, WI; grandchildren, Daniel (Kallista) Fischer of Verona, WI and Andrew Fischer of Iowa City, IA; he will be further missed by many other family and friends. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Fischer and Arthur Fischer; and his sister, Jean Goldmann. Gerald's family will greet guests from 10:00 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1415 Dopp St., Waukesha, WI 53188. Reverend Chris Marien will be officiating the service. Luncheon to follow service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to their church, Ascension Lutheran (address above) or to the (ADA) American Diabetes Association, 375 Bishops Way, Suite 220, Brookfield, WI 53005.
