Helen Manning, longtime resident of Waukesha, died on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the age of 95. She was born on June 11, 1920 in Waukesha a daughter of Leo and Amy (Ingersoll) Miller. Helen was baptized in and an active member of the First United Methodist Church for over 78 years. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, led social groups and Girl Scout Troops. Helen was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree and then at age 55, earned a Master's Degree. During World War II, she worked at Michael Yundt Co. inspecting oxygen bottles for pilots. During her working years, Helen worked at various companies, including Catholic Memorial High School as a Home Economics teacher. Her greatest joys were traveling, crafts, gardening, and especially spending time with family. Helen will be dearly missed by her step-children, Ellen (Karl) Baumann and Richard Manning; step-son in-law, Walter Duchow; grandchildren, Beth (Jeff) Thompson, Greg (Gail) Duchow, Scott (Lori) Manning, Stacy Manning, and Stephanie (Shawn) Jones; great-grandchildren, Chrys and Amber Thompson, Brittany, Mitchell and Morgan Jones, and Sydney Manning; sister, Mary Fay; dear friends, Linda and John Dimmick and special grandchildren who adopted Maurice and Helen, Nicholas (Jennie) and Robert Dimmick; special great-grandchildren, Emily, Callum, Katherine, and Lucy; and special niece and caregiver, Laura Miller Hause. Helen is further survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends from around the world. She is preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Raymond M. Frank; her second husband of 17 years, Maurice E. Manning; sons, Danny and Brian Frank; her parents; brother, Lyle (Eileen) Miller; and sister, Lois B. (Gordon) Cheshire and Carol (James) Higbee; and brother-in-law, Paul Fay. Visitation for Helen will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. Burial will take place immediately following the Memorial Service at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the First United Methodist Church are appreciated (see address above).
