Nancy Boman Dross
April 9th, 1927 - October 26th, 2017
Of Lake Keesus, WI passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at her FL home in North Ft. Myers at the age of 90. The world has lost one of the most outstanding women of our time. Nancy Boman Dross was born to Gustav and Dorothy Boman on April 9, 1927 in Duluth, MN. She graduated from Grinnell College in 1948 and completed advanced degrees from the University of Minnesota. She adored and married Heinrich Dross in 1954. Nancy was a Professor at Carroll College in Waukesha, WI from 1962- 1974 where she taught freshman English and Literature. In the mid 1970's along with Dr. Richard Chambers and then athletic director, David Balmer, she was instrumental in convincing the school board to start a soccer and swing choir/Broadway program at Arrowhead High School. After her husband's death in 1973, she founded Insurance Associates, Dross Agency, in North Lake, WI. In her continual pursuit of excellence, she attained a C.I.C. designation (at the time it was the highest accreditation in the insurance industry). She built the business and proudly sold it to her son Paul upon her retirement in 1999. In retirement, she could pursue her true passion - GOLF. She purchased a home at Heron's Glen in North Ft. Myers on the golf course in 2000. During the last 17 years she enjoyed spending the winters on her course in FL and summers in WI on the lake, playing golf several times a week, making many good friends, and serving as the chair of numerous golf committees. With her strong passion for golf, Nancy had a goal to shoot her age. She nearly attained that goal at the age of 86 when she shot an 88. Regardless of her many accomplishments, Nancy was most happy when she was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Nancy will be deeply and sadly missed by her loving friend and companion, Judith Mae Biddle of 36 years; her loving sons, Peter (Karla) Dross of MN; Paul (Staci Maloney) Dross of Merton, WI; and her grandchildren, Ben, Daniel, Emma and Addison. Nancy is further survived by her lifelong friend of over 60 years, Nancy Matthisen, along with many, many dear friends from around the country.
