Brian Tolbert, of Milwaukee, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the age of 55. He was born on January 29, 1962, the son of William and Sally (nee Jensen) Tolbert. Brian was a graduate of Kettle Moraine High School and UW Wisconsin - Milwaukee where he received several Bachelor degrees in fine art and was associated with the Walker Arts Society. Brian taught some classes at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Brian was truly a handy man, he loved poetry and art; some of his works were published. In the last six months of his life, his social worker encouraged him to begin to paint and draw again. Brian will be missed by his two children, Pieter and Katya, both of Cudahy; deeply missed by his mother, Sally Tolbert; and niece, Ally Gill of Milwaukee and good friend, Julie Putney. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Tolbert; maternal grandparents, Gretchen and Roland Jensen; paternal grandparents, Jane and Bill Tolbert; and uncle, Jack Jensen. The services for Brian will be held on Wednesday January 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St, Waukesha, WI. The Rev. Kathy Boadwine will be officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at The Lutheran Home for their care, compassion, and kindness.
