James “Jim” Harris, of Waukesha, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the age of 91. He was born on November 21, 1926, the son of George and Mabel Harris. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS San Marcos. Jim was an active member at Evangelical & Reform United Church of Christ, a proud supporter of the Blood Center of Wisconsin, and volunteered throughout the Waukesha Community. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed genealogy research, canoeing, biking, and wood carving. Jim will be deeply missed by his children, Kathy Harris, Bruce Harris, and Blaine (Sue) Harris; grandchildren, Cassandra, Julia, Jacob and Karl Harris and Nick and Amanda Cleveland; great-grandson, Braden De La Cruz; brothers, Bruce (Dianne) Harris of Rochester, MN and Richard (Patricia) Harris of Waukesha; and sisters, Helen Virginia Harris of Waukesha, JoAnn Steward of Elmhurst, IL, and Nan Letson of Boynton Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; brother, George Harris; sisters, Jean Beaster and Edith Harris. The visitation for Jim will be held at the Chapel at Prairie Home Cemetery, 605 S. Prairie Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186 on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service. The Rev. Dr. Bob Gross will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Evangelical & Reform Church, 413 W. Wisconsin Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186; the Hope Center, 502 N. East Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186; or to the Salvation Army, 445 Madison St. Waukesha, WI 53188. The family would like to thank Linden Heights, Linden Grove, and Season’s Hospice for their wonderful care of Jim.
