In Loving Memory
Neil Patrick Thomas, 63, of Lexington, NC, passed away on June 17, 2024.
Neil was born to James and Patricia Thomas in Rochester, NY on March 24,1961. Neil valued education and hard work, studying at Appalachian State University on a wrestling scholarship as well as Johnson and Wales, where he earned his degree in culinary arts. He went on to become a successful and well-known entrepreneur with multiple business ventures, most notably his accounting firm. Neil was an esteemed member of the North Carolina Society of Accountants and acted on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Tax Professionals. Neil was proud and grateful to the community for awarding his firm the Winston-Salem Journal’s Reader’s Choice Award for “Best Accounting Firm” for four years.
Neil enjoyed hobbies such as fishing, cooking, and watching sports. What brought him the most joy was being a devoted father to his three children. He went above and beyond for them. Whether it was coaching soccer teams, testing out a new dinner recipe, carpooling kids to and from school, or decorating the front yard with over a thousand Christmas lights to make the holiday a little more special, Neil strove to guarantee their happiness.
Neil is predeceased by his father, James Thomas; mother, Patricia Thomas; and brother, Christopher Thomas, all of Rochester, NY.
He is survived by his children, Taylor Williams (Brandon) of Winston-Salem, NC; Evan Thomas of Nagoya, Japan; Jason Shannon Thomas, of Wilmington, NC and his brother, Mark Thomas (Beth) of New York.
A private celebration of life will be held for the family and close friends of Neil at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to prostate cancer research or the Forsyth County Animal Shelter.
