Canby area resident for over 50 years, Renee Ann Baer, age 79, died on Saturday, June 15.

Renee was born on October 6, 1944, in Wahpeton, North Dakota, to Rueben and Mable Brosowske. She lived on a farm until moving to Tualatin, Oregon, with her parents and brother in 1952. While on a vacation with her parents to visit family in North Dakota during the summer of 1963, she met James Baer. They fell in love, and James moved to Oregon to be with Renee. They married on December 21, 1963. Renee was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Canby.

One of Renee’s favorite hobbies was geocaching. She started caching in 2008 and found a total of 14,720 caches. Renee searched for caches all over the western US with her husband, brother, and several of her grandchildren. She found her last cache on March 6, 2024, with her brother, Dennis.

Surviving Renee are three daughters – Michelle Baer of Wilsonville, Kris Rule of Oregon City, and Debra Baer of Canby; six grandchildren – Levi, Kendra, Kara, Camille, Ella, and James; one great-granddaughter – Sadie; and two brothers – Arlin Brosowske and Dennis Brosowske.
