Michael Bernard Sobeski, Jr. 77, of Johnstown passed away on June 24, 2024, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.  He was born September 17, 1946, in Greeley to Michael Bernard and Alice (Goddard) Sobeski and grew up in Johnstown.

 

Mike graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1965 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.  He served stateside in Texas before receiving an Honorable Discharge. 

 

On February 13, 1971, he married Judith Mae Johnson at the Catholic Church in Erie. 

Mike worked for Hays Market in Johnstown right out of high school as a meat cutter, as a mechanic for S&S Equipment in Johnstown and then began a long career as a cement truck driver. 

 

He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

 

A Lifetime member of the American Legion in Johnstown, he also served as a volunteer for the Johnstown Fire Department. 

 

Survivors include his wife, Judy and their children; Jeff, Missy and Joey Sobeski, his brother, John (Ann) Sobeski and adopted granddaughter, Makayla Stroh.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Pat and his sister, Julianne Ferjanec and niece, Christine Ferjanec. 

 

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Johnstown Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Johnstown Community Center.
