James N Alexander, 97, of Life Care Center of Westminster in Westminster, Colorado went home to be with the Lord on June 19, 2024. James (Jim) was born on April 9, 1927, in Springfield, Illinois to James and Ethel Alexander.

Jim grew up in Springfield, Illinois and graduated from Springfield High School in 1945. He was a World War II veteran enlisting in August of 1945 and was honorably discharged from the Army/Air Force in December of 1946. He attended Indiana University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Group Work Education from George Williams College. Jim worked for the YMCA for 32 years in various positions and locations. He retired from the YMCA as Camp Director of Camp Wood YMCA Elmdale, Kansas. Jim worked for six years as the Director of Heather Gardens in Aurora, Colorado before retiring.

James married Carolyn Jansen on August 14, 1954.

James is survived by his three sons: Bob (wife Paula), David (wife Beverly), and Thomas (wife Janet), 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, stepbrother Philo Kane, and Judy Kane (widow of stepbrother Vance Kane).

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westminster, Colorado on July 27, 2024, at 2:00 PM.
