Gary Pierce
June 4th, 1937 - June 20th, 2024
Gary Pierce 06/04/1937 It is with the saddest of hearts that we share that our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and all around fearless leader, Gary Ray Pierce, passed away in Tucson, Arizona to be with his beloved Lord on June 20th, 2024. Gary lived a life full of happiness, wonder and a constant pursuit of knowledge. He was born in Lodi, California on June 04, 1937. From an early beginning, Gary had a constant curiosity. This curiosity led him into his great passion, all things electronic. Hi mother shared that he would borrow her muffin tins to take apart the family radio and then try to figure out how to put it back together again. Which he did, successfully. When he grew older, the Air Force hand picked him for communications and all things radio related. He had a career there from 1957 to 1969. During this time he met his wife Warene. They had two sons together, Steven Pierce and David Pierce. His two sons were what made Gary proudest. Gary proudly served in Vietnam. His memories of his fallen soldiers still made him emotional to the very end. Gary married Susie on November 04, 1989 in Tucson, Arizona and they had 35 years of happiness together, for which Susie is forever grateful. Gary built their business together, Western Communications, from the ground up to become a very successful business. Gary was a long time amateur radio enthusiast. He achieved “Extra” status and made contacts all around the world. His call sign was AE7GP. Gary leaves behind his wife Susie (Stanford), son Steven, son David, sister Judy Cunningham, and brother Jim Pierce. Brother —in-law Eric Stanford (Denise) and brother-in-law Bill Stanford (Marilyn). Also nephews Jeff Thompson, Jon Thompson, Greg Stanford, nieces Julianne Leinenveber, and Cheryl Corwin. And many grand nieces and nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his sister Carolyn (Ralph) and father James Pierce and mother Mary Velma Clark. Gary, we will be struggling without you. We love you so much but know you are with your beloved Lord and Great Comforter. A memorial service will be held at Eastlawn Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Tucson AZ 85712 on Friday, November 29th, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.
