He went to Florida State University where he participated in the Army ROTC program. Sharon met the love of his life on a blind date and after graduating, married Catherine Knight on March 28, 1970. He served as an Army Officer in Okinawa, Japan for a year and a half. Following his time in Japan, he returned to the states and started working for Montgomery Ward. Then he earned his Master’s in Business Administration and Doctorate in Business Administration at Florida State University.

Sharon and Cathy moved to Florence, SC where he taught as an associate professor at Frances Marion University for 5 years. During that time, he was saved at the age of 33, at a 2nd Chapter of Acts concert which changed the course of his life and those around him for eternity.

Sharon and Cathy moved to Lorena, TX in 1981. He began teaching undergraduate level courses at Baylor University, eventually moving to teaching graduate and doctorate level courses. While in Texas, they had 3 children: Andrew, Arielle, and Abigail. At all three churches they attended, he enjoyed teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and being a deacon. They helped start and served at a Crisis Pregnancy Center in Waco, TX. He published a book during that time, as well as conducting business management seminars across the country.

Sharon, Cathy and Abigail moved to South Carolina in 2008 so Sharon could teach as a college professor at Charleston Southern University in their undergraduate and graduate level programs, as well as serving as the Director of Institution Research until he retired in the Fall of 2018. He was a Sunday School teacher at Crowfield Baptist Church and a member of the church choir.

Sharon loved reading and playing with his grandchildren; Ady and Jessie, teaching God’s Word in Sunday School at church, writing, singing, telling jokes, and laughing with his family.
