Marcia Mary Lou Kartman nee Wakeman, 97, died on June 29, 2024, in Lake Mills, WI. Marcia was born at Madison General Hospital on March 18, 1927, in Madison, WI. Marcia was the daughter of Marlon L and Ruby L Wakeman (Deppe). Marcia grew up in the Spring Harbor neighborhood, married Robert Allen Kartman on December 23, 1953. Marcia and Bob raised 4 children in a home on Lake Mendota Drive, then a home out in the country in the town of Middleton where the family enjoyed horseback riding. Marcia loved her family, and enjoyed many of the family get-togethers, especially the Deppe family reunions every summer.
Marcia was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Madison, and the Eastern Stars Melody Chapter 150.
Marcia worked at Middleton High School as a receptionist for ten years. She was a “mom” to many high schoolers during those years. She also worked part-time at the Graber Company in Middleton for a few years.
Marcia was an avid gardener, her flower gardens were admired by many, especially her rose bushes. She enjoyed fishing, riding her recumbent bike around her neighborhood, watching and listening to Brewer baseball games as well as Packer games. Mom (and dad) loved boating, owning a beautiful 21-foot Chris Craft wooden boat that was used for picnics, swimming, water skiing, and fishing. In the winter months mom & dad would travel to their home in Sarasota FL. They enjoyed the warm weather, beaches, family, and good friends.
Marcia is survived by her four children; Stephen (Susan) Kartman, Sue (Cindy) Kartman, Kay (Steve) Neuenschwander, and Kris (Ken) Penia; 4 grandchildren Nathan and Ashley Kartman, Kimberly and Alex Neuenschwander; 3 great grandchildren, Gracie, Taylor, and Charlie Rose; brother-in-law Louis Kartman; her beloved dog Kalie; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings Gyneth, Viola, and Corinne.
