Bobbie Sue (Lane) Potts, beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 92, on June 19, 2024, at Lodi Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Lane and Nancy Charlene Lane, and by her brother, Charles Lane.

Born in Arkansas on January 28, 1932, she attended schools in the town of Nashville, then moved to California for her senior year at El Dorado High School in Placerville, California. She married Donald Allen Potts on April 12, 1949, and resided in Placerville area, raising five children.

In 1965 she moved to Ione, where she became a working mom. She worked as a teacher’s aide for Preston School of Industry for many years and got involved in Ione city government. She served on the planning commission, then on the city council, then as mayor, and was involved in the development of Castle Oaks Golf Course.

Bobbie was also active in the First Baptist Church of Ione. She was a hard worker who loved having family around. In later years, she attended Sutter Creek Church of the Nazarene. One of her goals was to reach her 75th wedding anniversary, which she did on April 12, but on May 6 a heart attack sent her to the hospital, and that was the last she saw of the home she loved.

Bobbie is survived by her husband, Donald A. Potts, of Ione, and her five children: Glory Potts, Donald S. Potts, Robert (Karen) Potts, Jim Potts, and Nancy Morales. Her eight grandchildren are Rob (Crystel) Potts, James (Amanda) Potts, Sara Manson Smith, Roberta Manson, Michele (Jerry) Poore, Jarred Potts, Jennifer Potts, and Toni Morales. She is also survived by two nephews, fifteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Bobbie leaves behind a large legacy and many hearts that will be missing her deeply.
