Donald Beryl Sharp age 79, of Kernersville, North Carolina went home to be with his Lord and Savior at Lexington Memorial Center on Saturday June 29,2024. He was born on August 17,1944 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the late Edgar and Pauline Sharp. He was an active member of Triad Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and security team member, helped with Nehemiah’s Few, and a Grief Share group. 

Donald was also a Gideon helping distribute Bibles and was the Bible Chairman. He also worked with the North Carolina Baptists on Mission Disaster Relief. He served in the US Army from June 1965 until August 1971 and was a member of the American Legion. He was a volunteer firefighter and was the second Hatteras Island volunteer firefighter to receive a North Carolina firefighter 1 certification. Donald began his career in the telephone industry as an installer repairman, worked for many years in different positions and ended his career as a supervisor for Kernersville central office. After retiring from the phone company, he also worked for Vestal Buick as a shuttle driver. Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Michelle Sharp, his sons, Robert Beryl Sharp and Daniel Everette Sharp, his parents, Edgar and Pauline Sharp, one brother and three sisters.

Donald is survived by his wife, Alice P. Sharp of 58 years; his daughter, Jennifer Ruth Henderson of Camas Washington; his sister, Dixie Breithaupt of Vicksburg Mississippi; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. 

Services will be held at Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 8th of 2024 with Pastor Robert Decker and Pastor John Cullop officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Salisbury National Cemetery at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 9th of 2024.

Pall Bearers will be Charles McPeak, Allen Angell, Harold Simcox, Kenny Hanna, Larry Autry, Ed Geer, Steve Theobold, and Ron Huffman. 

Memorials may be made to Triad Baptist Church building fund or North Carolina Baptists On Mission.
