Matthew David Curtis Becker
July 8th, 1980 - July 5th, 2024
Matthew David Curtis Becker was born on July 8th, 1980, to Thomas and Ruth Becker of Fonda NY, on his mother's birthday.
His life was nothing short of remarkable. He was married in September of 2006 to Shanna Becker, and they were the love of each other's lives. Together, they built a beautiful life in the village of Ames, NY with four beautiful children: Jordan, Isla, Zoe, and Sadie. October will bring the birth of a fifth child. Matthew's children were counted as one of his greatest achievements, and he never failed to remark about how proud he was of them and how much he loved them every single day.
There were few things Matthew could not do. He was a whiz with computers and electronics. After buying their home in Ames, he learned to do most of the things it takes to run the home himself--from working on the furnace and the pipes to outfitting the home with smart devices to make everyone's lives just a little easier. If there was a problem to solve, he could fix it. He took pride in his job for Walmart Transportation, where he has been for over two decades. He played both the guitar and piano beautifully, as well as many other instruments, and was a brilliant songwriter and sound engineer. He prized his talent in photography and was a magnificent photographer with a love for film and drone photography as well. He saw the joy in the little things and the quiet moments, had an incredible sense of humor, the kindest smile, and the broadest shoulders. Above all, he was an amazing and Godly man, a wonderful husband, an incredible father, a dutiful son, and a good friend.
He leaves behind a legacy that time cannot erase, including his beautiful children, his wife Shanna; his father, Thomas; his brother, Joshua (Alissa) Becker and their children; brother-in-law, Randy (Elyse) Hogue; father and mother-in-law, Randall and Ann Hogue; his dog Thor, and many many aunts, uncles, cousins, loved ones, and dear friends. He is predeceased by his mother, Ruth Becker, who he will surely be seeing again in Heaven for their birthday.
A memorial service to honor Matthew's life will be held on Saturday, July 20th, 2024, at 11am at Redeemer Church, 931 Herkimer Rd, Utica, NY 13502.
In lieu of flowers, donations on behalf of the children may be made to Empower Federal Credit Union, located at Price Chopper Plaza in Palatine Bridge, NY or by mail to Empower Federal Credit Union, 1 Member Way, Syracuse, NY 13212 toward the MEMORIAL FUND FOR THE CHILDREN OF MATTHEW BECKER.
