Gregory L. Alexander
December 23rd, 1965 - July 5th, 2024
Gregory L. Alexander, 58, of Broadalbin, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, July 5, 2024, with his loving fiancé Christie by his side.
Greg was born on December 23, 1965, in Waverly, NY to James and the late Rose (Maslin) Alexander. He spent his childhood alongside his father learning how to diagnose and repair small engines. After graduation, he began his lifelong career as a mechanic. Greg worked for several companies over the years, and most recently at Full Throttle Repair Shop in Glenville.
Greg and the love of his life, Christie Harding, moved to Broadalbin in 2005. They were engaged on December 25, 2009, and spent every moment together making memories to last a lifetime.
One of Gregory’s greatest passions was watching NASCAR in person and on television, with his favorite drivers being Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott. He also loved the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and the NY Yankees.
He enjoyed the outdoors no matter the time of year, including going fishing, hunting, jet skiing, and snowmobiling. Greg’s favorite activities were swimming at the lake and partying with his friends and family. More than anything, Greg loved life itself and spending any time he could with those he cherished.
Gregory was predeceased by his mother Rose Alexander and sister Patricia Alexander York.
He is survived by his fiancé Christie Harding; Father James Alexander; sister Diane (Bob Sr.) Stefanik all from Waverly, NY; in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Morey; Christie’s brothers Steven and Sean Morey of Florida, Scott (Tiffany) Morey, and Darian (Shannon) Morey [Greg though of Darian as his brother, always doing many different things together, especially partying at the beach] all of Broadalbin; his best friends Robert Jones of Litchfield, PA and Donna Jones of Waverly, NY; several aunts and uncles, including his beloved Aunt Peggy; nieces and nephews Allie of Waverly, NY, Sammie (Jordan) of Appalachian, NY, Erica of Tennessee, Alexis (Greg), Taylor (Anthony), and Jordan all of Broadalbin; several great nieces and nephews; his dog Lucky; and countless friends that he considered family.
He truly loved kids but was unable to have children of his own. He had “his kids” Emma, Andrew, Aaron, Kaitlyn, Brayden, Morgan, and Aleah that he would do absolutely anything for, and who would tell you “Uncle Greg Rocks the Party!” at the drop of a dime.
Greg loved to vacation in Florida, especially Anna Maria Island, Holmes Beach, with Todd and Debbie McCoy; and West Palm (Jupiter) with Beth Barrett Daniel’s.
Family and friends are invited to come celebrate Greg’s life all day long at the North Broadalbin Beach Club on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
In Waverly, NY, family and friends are invited to celebrate Greg’s life at the Loom on July 27, 2024, from 11am to 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society at 437 Nine Mile Tree Rd., Gloversville, NY 12078 or online Donate (pawsforyou.org)
