Robert "Bob" R. Pfaff
September 27th, 1936 - July 8th, 2024
Robert "Bob" R. Pfaff was born on September 27, 1936, on a homestead ranch southeast of Greeley, Colorado, on the Kersey cutoff. He was the beloved son of Vernal and John Pfaff and the cherished middle child among four siblings: twins Shirley Gossert (Pfaff) and Leroy "Sonny" Pfaff, and Larry Pfaff. Bob's early education took place in a one-room schoolhouse near Kersey, Colorado, before attending and graduating from College High School in 1953.
In January 1954, Bob met the love of his life, Evelyn, and they were married on August 14, 1955. Their union was blessed with three sons: Gerald "Jerry" Pfaff, Gary Pfaff, and Robert "Rick" Pfaff. Bob's family grew to include two grandchildren, Mirinda Gardner and Jonathan Pfaff, and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Madison.
Bob was deeply committed to his faith and served his church community with dedication. Over the years, he held various roles, including deacon for 19 years, secretary-treasurer, head usher, and greeter. Known for his firm handshake and welcoming smile, Bob's presence at church was a source of warmth and comfort to many. His strong Christian faith guided him throughout his life. His life was a living example of the scripture verse, Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."
He valued hard work, honesty, and the importance of a man’s word. To his children, he was loving but fair. He made sure to instill his values in them as well as the importance of their education. A family man at heart, Bob cherished time spent with his loved ones. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons and friends and was an avid bowler, participating in a league for many years until six months before his passing. Bob also had a passion for skiing and traveling, having visited all but seven states in the U.S. He took great pride in his achievements as a mountaineer, having climbed ten of Colorado's 14,000-foot peaks.
Bob was a man of many interests, known for sharing fun facts about various topics, from politics to geology. He had a particular fascination with rocks and arrowheads, often wearing them as jewelry.
Bob passed away peacefully at his home on July 8, 2024, at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernal and John Pfaff, and his brothers, Larry and Sonny. Bob is survived by his sister, Shirley, his devoted wife, Evelyn; his sons, Jerry (Manuela), Gary, and Rick (Esther); his grandchildren, Mirinda (Aaron) and Jonathan (Maggie); and his great-grandchildren, Jordan and Madison.
Bob will be greatly missed, but the love and joy he shared will forever live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew him. As it's often said, there's a rainbow to every storm.
A service to honor Bob's life will be held at SouthGate Church located at 6541 S. College Avenue, Fort Collins, CO. 80525 on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 10:00AM.
Bob's life was a beacon of how to live with purpose and love. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be a comfort to all who knew him.
