“A mother’s love is like a delicate petal—fragile yet everlasting"
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joy Lynn Barrett (née Moore), who left this earthly life on July 7, 2024, at her home in Gonzales, California. Born in Salinas, California, Joy brought joy and warmth to everyone who knew her. Joy was a woman of exceptional kindness, generosity, loyalty, and consideration. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her love for crafting, baking, and working in her garden was only eclipsed by the joy she found in doting on her grandchildren and her deep affection for her husband and children.
Her tender heart extended beyond her family to the countless animals she adored and loved to snuggle with. Joy’s loving memory will be cherished by her devoted husband, Joe Barrett, and their children: Joe Barrett, Jr.; Jennifer (James) Wesley; and Justin (Lanny) Barrett. Her legacy of love continues through her cherished grandchildren, Beau Barrett and Isolina Joy Barrett. Joy is also survived by her sister, Caren (Allen) Hook, along with their daughter, Carly. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins feel the sorrow of her loss deeply. Joy now joins her father, R.J. Moore, her mother, Eileen Moore, and her sisters, Nancy Johncox and Shirley Fry, in the heavens. Their reunion will bring solace to those who hold their memories dear. A Life Celebration will take place on July 20, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at The Barrett Ranch in Gonzales, where family and friends will gather to remember and honor Joy’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a contribution in her name be made to the Hartnell Foundation, Athletic Department. You can send your donation to 411 Central Ave, Salinas California 93926. If you have any questions regarding the Foundation Donation please call 831-755-6810. Joy Lynn Barrett's presence will be missed profoundly, but the light she brought into this world will never be extinguished. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

We Entrusted Joy Barrett's Care To
Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
