David Allen Blackett, Sr.
January 13th, 1950 - July 14th, 2024
David Allen Blackett Sr., 74, of LaFayette, NY passed away on Sunday, July 14th surrounded by his family.
David was born on January 13, 1950 to Annie and William Blackett Sr. in Yonkers, NY. After attending school, he joined the US Army. While on leave in New York City, he met his beloved wife of 52 years on the Staten Island Farry. They went on to have 3 children together. David was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1970 and moved to Brooklyn, NY. He took a job with New York Telephone where he remained for 40 years through its many changes. He was an avid baseball fan and a die-hard Yankees fan. He had many interests and hobbies, but enjoyed collecting coins and baseball cards the most.
David was predeceased by his parents, his wife Sharon and daughter Christina.
He is survived by his daughter, Denise Blackett, his son David Blackett Jr. and daughter in-law Hillary Blackett, brothers William Blackett Jr., Robert Blackett and Kenneth Blackett.
A small family memorial service will be planned at a future date.
