Our Loving Mom, Shelagh Marie Manhart, 92, went peacefully to our Lord on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

She was born on December 21st in Perth, Scotland to Andrew and Josie (Carroll) Porter. She lived in Scotland during her younger years, London and High Wycombe England. While living in High Wycombe she met her loving husband, Eugene (Gene) Manhart while he was in the Air Force and stationed at the Royal Air Force base during the Korean War. They married at St. Augustine Catholic Church in High Wycombe, England on July 24, 1954, and she moved to the United States for the first time. They were together almost 63 years when Dad passed away. From this Union they had seven children, Jo Lopez, Bernadette Manhart, Gene Manhart (Rita), Rose Epperly (Brad), Andrew Manhart (Janell), Moira Manhart, Kerri Button (Andrew).

Mom raised seven children and was always available if we needed her. When we became older and most of us were gone, she started working in a nursing home and the elderly were her specialty. She enjoyed caring for people so much, she decided to go back to school and get her Nursing degree in her forties. Our Mom was a beautiful soul. She never knew a stranger and was always willing to volunteer for various causes and events whenever help was needed. She loved to make new friends and spend time with them. She loved sewing, making clothes for her children and herself, and had boxes and boxes of fabric at the ready. She would sew baby blankets for unwed Mothers. She also loved to knit and would make throws for family and friends. She would take on new projects like Acrylic or watercolor painting. She loved to write poems and sing around the house while working. She would read books all the time and never gave up her love for learning. All her life she was an avid gardener, and her plants always thrived. If you had a failing plant, she would bring it back to life. Even when it was getting too difficult for her to garden, she would ask us to bring her flowers and plants. When she retired from nursing, RVing was her new love and they spent several years traveling, meeting new people, biking, playing tennis and enjoying the warmer weather. She loved life, having fun and spending time with her family, which was her top priority, and she loved everyone dearly.

She is survived by one Sister, Sophie Swallow of Reading, England. Twenty-two grandchildren (which includes their spouses) and eight Great Grandchildren, with one on the way! She also has several nieces, nephews, and friends that she loved dearly, and they loved her.

Shelagh was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Andrew Joseph Porter, sister Maureen Ingram, nephew Mark Swallow, niece Angela Ziemer, niece Maureen Langenberg.

Visitation will be held at Viegut Funeral Home at 1616 N. Lincoln Avenue, Loveland CO from 4-7pm Monday, June 23, 2025.

On Tuesday June 24, there will be visitation at 9:15 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 W. 12th Street, Loveland CO 80537.
