Jimmie G. Gaines, 90, of Caldwell, Idaho passed on to a happier place on Monday, July 15, 2024. A Private Family Graveside Service to celebrate his life will be on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, which coincides with the 45th Anniversary of his and his wife’s first date.His Family includes his loving wife of 38 years, Deborah: four children Patricia Gaines, Jimmie Gaines Jr., Greg Stahr and Kelly Stahr. Including 5 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren,  In-laws, nephews and nieces.And Roscoe, their Lovable Rowdy Rascal Labrador!He is preceded in death by his son, Allan Gaines, Scott Stahr, his parents Opal and Arizona Gaines, and his seven siblings, Helen, Richard, Wayne, Wanda, Shirley, Sharon & Ronnie.Jimmie was born in the midst of the Dust Bowl, October 29, 1933 in Bakersfield, Ca.His Family moved to the Northern California Foothills of Tuolumne County soon after. His older sister died as a young child resulting in Jimmie being the eldest child and learning at a young age how to assist his parents in caring for his younger siblings. Through the process he developed an incredible work ethic and self reliance. After High School, Jimmie joined the U.S.Army and was sent to Japan  serving in the First Calvary Division during the Korean War. While in Japan he eventually worked directly under Colonel Wayne Springer, whom he continued to learn invaluable life enduring lessons which assisted him in his work and personal life forever.Upon returning from Japan, Jimmie began his career with the California Division of Forestry/Department of Corrections.  His career included Project Foreman, Crew Supervisor,  Assistant State Forest Ranger and Forestry Superintendent at a variety of Conservation Camps throughout California. He served as the Training Officer for the California Youth Conservation Training Program, which was the Pilot Project and model for the “Job Corp”, was the Director of Training of the Forest Academy as well as Assistant Conservation Camp Coordinator in the Central Sierra District Headquarters. He concluded his Career with the State of Calif. as the Construction Manager of Prison Industry Authority, California Department of Corrections. 

After retiring from the State of Californian he went on to establish his own Construction and Concrete Company for almost 20 years.

 

Upon retirement - he didn’t retire.  Jimmie continued to remain active, sharing International Travel and  RV’ing in Big Bertha with his wife. Traveling with his Best Bro, Billy Boy on Alaskan Fishing Trips. He became a Computer Guru, tended to the yard and gardens,  made the best BBQ Ribs and Beans, labeled with Unusual Names and Pickled Beets. He loved fishing the Snake River catching 2-3 foot long Channel Catfish, filleting them perfectly  - no bones about it!    He wasn’t a Couch Potato!He displayed his love of home and garden by maintaining a beautiful landscape.

 

He will be terrible missed by all who knew and loved him.
