Beers and Story - Belchertown
Bert E. Hickey
July 21st, 1972 - July 20th, 2024
Belchertown - Bert Ellsworth Hickey Jr, 51, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 20th in Belchertown. Born on July 21,1972 in Ware, Massachusetts, Bert led a life of passion and pride for his family, work, pets, and hobbies.
Bert was born and raised in Massachusetts. He had a passion for music, working out, cars and bikes. He was a true craftsman who found his calling early in life as a carpenter for Integrity Construction, where he worked for 22 years. He took great pride in the work he did there, often taking and keeping pictures of completed jobs. He was always building and tinkering with different projects at home. Bert loved his dogs Bailey, Bear, and China.
Bert was immensely proud of his large family, and was sure to tell them often. He leaves behind four children: his son Brett Hickey, his daughters Sarah Hickey and Justine Hickey, and his stepson Austyn Provost. He meant the world to his grandson, Oliver Hickey. He also leaves his mother Georgia “Mazie” Gaudette; his father Bert Hickey; his sisters Laurie Smith, Tracey Jarvis and her husband Lester Jarvis, Jennifer Hickey, and April Hickey-Guy and her husband Wade Guy, and many nieces and nephews, who considered him to be the cool uncle.
Bert will be remembered as the life of the party, with a laugh that was contagious. He will truly be missed. Bert, we hope that you rest easy with Jimmy.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Please visit www.beersandstory.com.
