Janis Kay Wells
February 10th, 1942 - July 18th, 2024
Janis K. Wells, a beloved resident of Mountain Home, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones. Born to William Lee Black and Rachel Clark, she was the sixth of eight siblings: Marietta, Lyle (Doris), Kenneth (Kae), Sherin (Larry), Frank (Jo), Teresa (Jim), and Betty (Gig).
A proud 1960 graduate of MHHS, Janis cherished her Mountain Home roots. In 1972, she married her true love, William D. Wells, blending their families seamlessly, never using the term "step." Her children, Jana (David), Jade (Lisa), Monty (Janice), and Ronald, and numerous grandchildren were the joy of her life. Janis was an exceptional organizer and dedicated worker, with roles ranging from high school jobs to positions at PFCU and Armstrong University. Her favorite job was with Larry Johnson at the Ready-Mix in Mountain Home.
Janis and Bill loved their family fiercely, especially their 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Maintaining close relationships despite distances. After Bill’s retirement in 2001, they returned to her childhood home, deepening ties with family and the community.
A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Janis’ faith was central to her life. She was devoted to loving her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.
She loved cooking, music, and had a great sense of humor. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will forever be cherished by her family and friends.

We Entrusted Janis Wells's Care To
Rost Funeral Home
As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
