Carmen Anne Blackmon (nee Ciddio)
July 17th, 1945 - July 16th, 2024
Carmen Anne Blackmon (née Ciddio), aged 78, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 16, 2024, in Westminster, Colorado. Born on July 17, 1945, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Carmen devoted over five decades to a fulfilling career as a nurse, working primarily in psychiatric care and advocating passionately for the dignity and respect of her patients.
Carmen graduated from Greely High School and later pursued higher education at the University of Phoenix School of Nursing. Throughout her career, she cared for patients across all stages of life, from newborns to the elderly, always placing a high value on empathy and patient advocacy.
A devout Catholic, Carmen was a regular at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church and found great solace visiting Mother Cabrini's Shrine. Her faith deeply influenced her compassionate approach to both her professional and personal life.
Carmen's interests extended beyond her career. She was an enthusiastic listener of opera and an excellent cook and dancer. Her commitment to her beliefs was evident in her active participation in the Democratic Party. Above all, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family, creating lasting memories with them.
Carmen is survived by her sister, Trinni Aguirre; daughter, Cheryl Knowles; son-in-law, Bobby Knowles; son, Matthew Blackmon; daughter-in-law, Kathleena "Kathy" Blackmon; grandchildren, Jessica Hanus, Larice Esquibel, Matthew Blackmon Jr., Isabelle Hanus, Mark Blackmon, and Kariel Blackmon; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Blackmon; father, Vincent Ciddio; mother, Lucille Cidddio; siblings, Adelina (Lena) Jurado, Marie Dominguez, Henry Ciddio, Doris Ciddio, Cecilia "Cecile" Morales, Anthony "Butch" Ciddio; and grandson, JohnAdam Esquibel.
