Evelyn was born in Keene, New Hampshire to Henning and Ruth Danielson. She grew up in Morris, New York as the daughter of a traveling Baptist Minister, and often told stories of traveling with her father on Sunday and playing the trumpet and/or piano during the services. She attended Acton High School in West Acton, Massachusetts and graduated Salutatorian or second in her class. She graduated from Northwestern Bible College in Minnesota. She went on to Deaconess Nursing School in Boston, Massachusetts where she earned her Certification as a Registered Nurse.

Even though Don and Evelyn dated in high school, they reconnected on a blind date set up by her brother Stanley. They were married on June 4, 1951 before SSgt. Donald Reynolds was deployed to the Korean Conflict. Upon Don’s return to the States they lived at Camp Lejeune military training facility in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Here they were able to adopt Brenda, who God mysteriously brought to them.

Don retired from the Marines in 1957 while they were living in Mobile, Alabama where Evelyn was a visiting nurse. In 1966 they were house parents at the Alabama Sheriffs Boys Ranch in Camden helping troubled boys.

In 1969 they moved to Lakewood, Colorado where Evelyn was an ER nurse at Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge and later worked for Jefferson County Health services as a visiting nurse and enjoyed serving her mountain zone. After retiring from nursing in 1984 Evelyn owned and operated a bridal shop until her final retirement in 1994.

Evelyn was a devoted follower of Christ delivering the Word of God at any opportunity even to the end. Teaching Sunday School and writing a book “Building a Firm Foundation in a Crumbling World” designed to help children learn God’s teachings. Her love and impact was made around the world, Canada, Thailand, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Mexico. Family was very important, and she enjoyed family gatherings, traveling with her husband, and family game night. Community was also important including volunteering at the Red Cross, an election official, hosting backyard barbecues, and other activities. Evelyn loved to fly and was taking flying lessons to become a pilot in her 80’s. Don and Evelyn hosted many international students in their home over the years and loved them all as family.

Anyone who has been in Don and Evelyn’s house would have seen the many butterflies that she loved because they represent the spiritual transformation when a person becomes a Christian.

Evelyn was a loving & faithful companion to Don. They were married for 73 wonderful years.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Donald Ernest Reynolds, her 3 children Brenda (Larry) Hanneman, Cecilia (Terry) Lundberg, and Daniel (Debby) Reynolds, grandchildren Candyce (Jared) Lischka, Amanda (Clay) Adkisson, Lucas Lundberg, and Kendra (Joe) Vogt, great grandchildren Landon & Caydence Lischka, Seth, Asher, Stella Adkisson, and Jordan Vogt, her brothers Gordon and Paul Danielson and many nieces and nephews.
