Lawrence "Larry" Sturup
December 18th, 1948 - July 24th, 2024
In Loving Memory
Belchertown- Lawrence M. "Larry" Sturup, 75, passed away peacefully at home July 24, 2024 with his loving wife by his side. He was born on December 18, 1948 in Manhattan, New York to the late Alfred and Rachel (Pacheco) Sturup. Larry proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam war. Following his honorable discharge, Larry worked as a hairdresser for 20 years and later went on to work as a construction engineer for over 20 years at Miller Engineering before retiring. Larry enjoyed collecting various things. He was also an avid reader and loved sitting down with a good book. Above all else, Larry adored his children and his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by so many relatives and friends. Larry is survived by his wife, Lucia (Laporte) Sturup and their three children, Galen Sturup-Comeau and wife Ellen, Aaron Sturup and wife Marisa, and Alena Sturup and partner Michael; his grandchildren, Mason, Iris, Parker, Ronin, and Kannarin; beloved niece, Madeline Laporte; sister, Irene Alecia; stepsister, Nannette; stepbrother, Alfred Jr.; as well as many extended family members and friends. Visitation will be held July 30, 2024 from 4-7pm at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held July 31, 2024 at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home at 10am for a funeral procession. Burial will immediately follow at the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's name can be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind by visiting guidingeyes.org.
