Gerald C "Jerry" Randolph

Gerald C Randolph, 85, of Mountain Home, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his home with family by his side.Born Aug. 5, 1938, in Honey Grove, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late J. Clyde and Grace (Fisher) Randolph. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott E. Randolph, siblings: Shirley Baker, David Randolph and Glenda Harbst.He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Bowen) Randolph, daughter, Melissa Elfring (Dan) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and son, David Randolph (Gretta) of Nampa, Idaho and brother Larry Randolph (Linda) of Lewistown, PA. Grandkids, Cody (Ashley) Elfring, Caitlyn (Forest) Miller, Ruger Randolph, Violet Randolph. Great grandsons, Hunter, Tanner and Everet.Jerry was born into a large family, the fifth of six children. After high school he joined the Air Force and the next 21 years served multiple assignments, TDY’s and deployments. Wanda was an amazing military wife and always took care of the home front and had everything ready for the next military move. A Vietnam veteran, Jerry retired from the Air Force in 1979. His next career was at the Meridian wastewater plant as mechanic supervisor. He retired from the plant April 2000.He took pride in the military service of his son David, son-in-law Dan Elfring, grandson’s Cody Elfring and Ruger Randolph, and granddaughter’s Caitlyn Miller and Ashley Elfring.He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Starting as a child, he trapped and hunted the woods of Pennsylvania. He went on to hunt the wilderness of Alaska, the prairies of Montana, and mountains of Idaho. Jerry had the patience to spend hours, if not days, sighting in a new scope and reloading his ammo to perfection, normally this was always being done with a kitty cat at his side.He introduced the love of the outdoors, American history, and patriotism to his children and grandchildren. Camping, 4 wheeling, hunting, driving to old ghost towns, and hearing stories about Lewis and Clark and Sacajawea will always be great memories to his loved ones.A memorial service will be held on 6 August at 11:00 at Mountain View Cemetery with military honors.
