James W. Cook James W. Cook, a respected and beloved member of the Lawrenceburg community, passed away on July 28, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on June 28, 1946, in Frankfort, KY, James dedicated his life to serving others both in his professional career and personal life. James was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served for four years. During his military service, he was honored with several commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service, James continued his commitment to public service as a Police Officer with the Lexington Police Department. His unwavering dedication to protecting and serving his community was a testament to his generous, considerate, and loyal nature. James was a faithful member of the Shiloh Christian Church.
James was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Cook. He leaves behind his loving wife, Joan Perkins Cook, who shared many wonderful years with him. He is also survived by his daughter, Michelle Khan of Louisville, and his son, Michael Cook (Beth), of Lawrenceburg. The joy of his life were his grandchildren: Sara Cook, Adam Cook, Liam Cook, and Ameena Khan Per (Nick).
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 9:00 AM, with Pastor Scott Osborn officiating. Casket bearers will include Chris Perkins, Kage Perkins, Larry Shelton, Austin Fields, Jonathan Brewer, Jason Perkins, and David Perkins.
