It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Willie C. Ulibarri, Sr., who left us on August 26th at the age of 89. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

 

Willie C. Ulibarri, Sr. was born in Tierra Amarillo, NM to Jose Ulibarri and Maria Archuleta. He was one of 12 boys and is survived by his brother, Raymond Ulibarri. Willie received his master’s degree in theology and was a minister for almost 30 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. He also had a passion for travelling and visited many countries. Willie was self-employed and owned his own business for many years. When he received his Class A Contractor License, he was one of five in the City and County of Denver and the only Hispanic to do so. He retired in 2016.

 

He is survived by his wife Dede Gomez and his children, Dr. Willie C. Ulibarri, Jr. (Anna); Julie Ulibarri Muniz (Richard); infant Aaron Matthew Gomez Ulibarri (deceased); and stepdaughter Amber Gomez.

 

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryan Ulibarri (Lisa); Tanya Rodriguez (Gary); Tracy Ulibarri; Gerald Ulibarri-Muniz (Mandy); Crystal Kavallieros (Minas); Dominic Gomez (Ashley) and Ciara Navarro. Great grandchildren: Andrew Baca; Austin Rodriquez; Ethan Ulibarri; Ezekiel Ulibarri; Marcus Griego; Alexa Rodriguez; Makaila Griego; Caleb Ulibarri; Genevieve Kavallieros; Jazlynn Gomez and Great-Great granddaughter Isabella Toscano. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A viewing service will be held on August 7th, 6:00 pm at Romero’s Funeral Home, 1805 S. Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, CO. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 8th at 10:30 am at Holy Name Catholic Parish, 3290 W. Milan Ave., Sheridan, CO. The burial will be at 2:00 pm at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Vincent’s of Paul or the Alzheimer’s Association in Willie C. Ulibarri Sr.'s memory.
