With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Eugene Ellis, who departed this world on July 30, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on September 5, 1958, in Jacksonville, Florida to William Richard Ellis, I and Kathryn Hamer Ellis. Michael's life was a testament to loyalty, kindness, and consideration. Michael received his bachelor's degree in business management from Georgia Southern University, a foundation that would serve him well throughout his career in restaurant management. In his professional life, Michael was known for his steadfast dedication, overseeing operations with a meticulous eye and a gentle hand. He was also a member of the fraternity Delta Sigma Phi.
Though his career was important, nothing came before family for Michael. His profound love for his family was palpable, always ensuring that his relatives felt cherished and supported. Michael's personality was defined by an unwavering optimism; he never complained, regardless of the circumstances.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Kathryn H. Ellis; and sisters: Patricia E. (Steve) Henderson and Victoria E. Brown. The love Michael shared with his family extended through the generations, touching the lives of his five nieces: Samantha K. (Bryce) Higginbotham, Shannon K. Valeriano, Courtney N. (Keith) Ellis, Kathryn B. (Gerardo) Serano, and Alexis B. (David) Harrison, along with eight great-nieces, two great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew. He is preceded in death by his father, William Richard Ellis, I and his brother, William Richard Ellis, II.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in his memory to Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church, 2815 US-41, Fort Valley, GA 31030.
