### Obituary of William "Howard" H Turner, Jr. On a solemn July day in 2024, the world said farewell to a remarkable individual, William "Howard" H Turner, Jr., who left a lasting imprint wherever he trod. Born on October 31, 1933, in the quaint town of Albemarle, North Carolina, Howard's journey from a North Carolinian childhood to a life of national service and community contributions is a testament to his unwavering dedication and benevolent spirit. A man of profound intellect and boundless energy, Howard graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1963, obtaining degrees in both Engineering and Business Administration. His pursuit of knowledge and commitment to excellence was evidenced by his membership with the esteemed Mutual Engineering Association in 1968. His scholarly endeavors laid a strong foundation for a varied and impactful career. Serving in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955, Howard demonstrated patriotism and valor, attributes that he carried with him throughout his life. Post his service, he embarked on a significant chapter with Kemper One Insurance Company, where he employed his expertise as a Safety Engineer. His conscientiousness and dedication to his profession garnered the respect of peers and colleagues alike. Howard was a man of many dimensions—generous, kind, funny, energetic, loyal, honest, and considerate. He was as easy to talk to as he was to befriend, endearing himself to many through his modesty and warmth. His membership with the St. Petersburg Yacht Club from 1995 highlights his zest for life and his affinity for camaraderie and community. Though his professional and personal achievements were vast, Howard’s heart lay with those in need. His altruistic nature saw him support several causes, and he passionately contributed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Cancer Research, Boys Town, Hillsdale College, SPCA, among others. His legacy of generosity continues to inspire and impacts many. Howard is survived by his loving daughter, Laura Turner, who, beyond being his only surviving relative, was the light of his life. Her devotion and love stand as a testament to the indelible bond they shared. Honoring his life, a funeral service was held on August 1st, 2024, at Bay Pines Cemetery in Saint Petersburg, Florida, a city he called his final home. Friends, family, and well-wishers are encouraged to offer their condolences through flowers at 430 Bay St NE, Apt 1510, St. Petersburg, FL, or donations to the myriad of causes he cherished. Howard’s life, rich in service and love, serves as a beacon of hope and kindness. His memory will be etched in the hearts of those who knew him, reflecting the virtues he lived by and the immense gratitude his life story invokes.
