Joan Sylvia Boyce
November 27th, 1926 - March 27th, 2019
IN MEMORY OF: Joan Sylvia (Davey) Boyce was born in London, England; November 27, 1926. After an extended illness, Joan slipped away from us on March 27, 2019 at the age of 92 at the TRU Community Hospice in Longmont, Colorado. On February 16, 1946 when Joan was 19 years old, she married Nelson Boyce in London. Then after World War II ended, she came to the United States as a war bride. Joan and Nelson settled in Arvada and raised two children, Susan and Donald. Her first job in Colorado was as a telephone switchboard operator. Joan worked 25 years for Jefferson County Schools as a lunchroom manager and then after retiring she worked as a Congregational Care Coordinator at the Arvada United Methodist Church where she had been a member since 1946. Many people speak of Joan as a loving, kind, sweet woman and a good, giving, loyal friend. Joan had a beautiful singing voice and sang in the church choir for many years. Joan and Nelson loved playing pinochle on a regular basis with their close church family. Joan is survived by a daughter, Susan Hawkins (husband: Wayne); brother, Colin Davey; sister, Pamela Basso (husband: Don); grandchildren, Amanda Hawkins, Carley Boyce, Paul Boyce, and Tracy Hong (husband: Davy); Great-Grandchildren, Aden Hawkins and Amayah Hong. In addition, Joan has numerous family members stretching across the miles from the United States to England. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Boyce and son, Donald Boyce. Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 am at chapel at the Aspen Mortuary, 6370 Union Street, Arvada, CO.
