Douglas Wayne Wager
June 21st, 1969 - August 5th, 2024
Douglas Wayne Wager, 55, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, August 5, 2024.
Douglas was born on June 21, 1969, in Amsterdam to the late John and Josephine (Natoli) Wager. He grew up locally and graduated from Amsterdam High School. After graduation, Douglas enrolled in the New School of Radio & Television in Albany, NY. He majored in radio broadcasting and began working for WCSS1490, a radio station in Amsterdam, for a short time.
Douglas was always intrigued by computers, science, and physics. He was self-employed through most of his career, always assisting others with his knowledge whether he was creating avatars in a game or locksmithing.
He was married to the love of his life Sharon Kruger on June 22, 2022. They shared 27 glorious years together full of love and laughter.
He was an avid fan of Formula 1 Racing, with his all-time favorite driver being Jackie Stewart. He also enjoyed playing video games, where he would always meet new people to game with. Most recently, Douglas’ favorite hobby was lockpicking. After he was diagnosed with Parkinsons, he began working more with his hands to keep his dexterity. He started a YouTube Channel to show others his tips and tricks, and it amassed over 300 subscribers.
Douglas was so loved by his family, friends, and fans. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his charismatic personality.
Douglas was predeceased by his parents John and Josephine Wager.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Kruger; son Garrick Wager; brothers John, Michael, Gary, and Allan Wager; beloved cats Fred and Micki; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In keeping with Douglas’ wishes, there will be no services at this time.
