Ollie Bell Chandler

February 15, 1937- July 24, 2024

 

Ollie Bell Chandler passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024 at the age of 87. Ollie was born in Jacksonville, Texas on February 15, 1937. She was the second of three children born to Carl Clifford and Altha Mae Nays. She lived in Jacksonville until 1962 when the family moved to Tucson, Arizona. Ollie attended school in Jacksonville Texas.  She graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1955.  She attended nursing school in1955 graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

 

Ollie had five children, Felicia Fae Cook, Gregory Lynn Cook,  Anthony Troy Cook, Terri Kennedy Chandler, and John Dwayne Chandler. She was a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under Senior Pastor, Dr. DaMond Holt; where she was also a member of the Mass Choir. Ollie enjoyed reading her bible and spending time with family.  She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and cooking. 

 

Ollie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Henry Nays and Clifford “Joe” Nays; daughter-in-law, Denise Isabelle Chandler.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Felicia Fae Cook and Terri Miller; sons, Gregory (Maria Lola) Cook, Anthony Troy (Marissa) Cook, and John Dwayne Chandler. She also survived by her 11 grandchildren: Dione Hudson, Sierra Cook, Stephanie (Miquel) Jones, Anthony Troy Cook II, Dante Cook, Olivia Gilliam, Sydnee Cook, Kendal Cook, Selena Cook, Jaden Cook, and Dwayne Michael Chandler; and 10 great-grandchildren. 

 

Celebration of Life service will be held, 11:00 AM, Friday August 16, 2024 at Bring’s Broadway Chapel in Tucson, Arizona with Rev. Eric Rogers officiating. Graveside service to follow at South Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Tucson Arizona. Dress attire for the service is casual/business casual, as Ollie would prefer.
