Kathleen Mary Olsen
July 5th, 1944 - August 9th, 2024
Kathleen Olsen passed away at home on August 9th at the age of 80. Kathy was born to Earl and Florence Nelson on July 5, 1944. She grew up in Long Lake, MN, with her 3 sisters and aunt. She cherished her childhood and loved returning to her Long Lake family home.
Kathy was a proud graduate of Orono High School. After high school, she embraced independence while working in Minneapolis. In 1966, Kathy married and began her family in 1969. Being a mother was her greatest joy and most cherished role. Over the years, including a few in California, she held various jobs, spending her last 15+ years at The Accessory Collection on 50th and France, where she took pride in helping clients create beautiful homes.
Kathy found a loving partner in Jack Fetters, with whom she spent over 20 years while residing in Edina. Together, they enjoyed road trips, camping, and time with friends and family, especially their grandchildren.
Kathy lived a life characterized by love, thoughtfulness, and candid honesty. While her directness could sometimes be misunderstood, her love was profound and heartfelt. She delighted in time at the pool, dancing, laughing, and having fun with friends. Kathy had a deep appreciation for the sun, water, and following Minnesota sports.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Brad, Jeff (Lisa), Kim (Craig) Menne; grandchildren: Raychel (Tom) Bowman, Tyler, and Carter; great-grandchildren, Kennalyn, Cooper, and Kassidy Bowman; beloved life partner, Jack Fetters and his sons Nate and Nick; sister, Marie (David) Nelson-Kidd. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Florence Nelson, and sisters, Carol and Margaret.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Nine Mile Village Party House, 6301 Villa Lane, Edina, MN, on August 24th at 2pm, where family, friends, and loved ones will gather to honor Kathy’s memory and legacy.
Kathy will be remembered with deep affection, gratitude, and laughter. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit and legacy will always be cherished. We will continue to find her through her heartfelt notes, the songs of the birds, the beauty of flowers, and the attitude of cats.
