Michael “Mickey” Gene Watts, 73, husband of Debra “Debbie” Gibson Watts, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024. He was born in Hodgenville, KY on August 7, 1951, to the late Erma Dean Davis and Billy Watts.  

Besides his wife, Debbie, those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Casey (Kim) Watts, Travis (Lisa) Watts; brother, Freddy Watts; grandchildren, Cody Watts, Quinton Watts, Carson Watts, Mattie Renfro, Lily Watts, Alayna Watts, Nolan Watts; great grandson, Percival Watts; brother-in-law, Coy Gibson; and sister-in-law, Vicky Gibson  

In addition to his parents, Mickey is preceded in death by his son, Brandon Watts; and infant brother, Sammy.  

Mickey was a 1969 graduate of Elizabethtown High School. He was a member of the 1967 and 1968 state runner up E-Town football teams. He loved playing shortstop for Little League Baseball, and was an avid golfer.

Mickey began working as a lineman for GTE in 1971. Later in his career, he spent eleven years as a technical instructor traveling extensively throughout the US. He retired from Verizon after 30 years.

After his retirement from Verizon he worked several years for Triple D Communications as a QA Inspector.

Of all his accomplishments, Mickey was most proud of his family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude.
