Edgar Razics, of Tribes Hill, passed away at home with his loving family by his side on August 16, 2024. He suffered a long and courageous battle of 13 years of illness.

Ed was born on April 24, 1954, in Nauroth, Germany to Johan and Aloisa, post WWII refugees from Hungary and Czechoslovakia. He graduated as a stone mason and served one year in the German Army. He immigrated to America after meeting and marrying Charmaine Bernard on February 1, 1974, and they just recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Ed came to America speaking no English and learned to speak the language while watching Sesame Street with his five children. During his time in America, he worked extremely hard for over 30 years as a flooring specialist to provide for his family, which allowed Charmaine to be a stay-at-home mother to their children; he retired due to illness. Ed became a U.S. Citizen in 1998 and was of Christian faith. He welcomed the Lord as his Savior, being baptized in 2013.

Ed was a member of the Tribes Hill Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed spectating at his children and grandchildren’s many sporting events and school concerts. Often times you could hear Ed from the sidelines of soccer games acting as a coach or referee. He also enjoyed watching soccer and old western movies on TV. Like a true German, Ed loved his beer. He liked hunting, listening to music, singing, dancing and telling everyone stories and jokes. He was called “campfire liar” as one would never know the truth behind the story. His favorite nickname was “Opa” as his grandchildren called him.

Ed was previously deceased by his parents, as well as his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Nancy Bernard.

Surviving is his wife Charmaine; children Nina Kosiba, Levi (Kim) Razics, Maureen (Jeff) Posten, Julie (Erich) Weil, Hannah (Josh) Scutt and stepdaughter Carrie Gebbie; grandchildren Malcolm and Samuel Kosiba, Jacob and Madalyn Razics, Aaron (Brittany), Mckenzie and Phinneas Posten, Bradley, Kyle and Marlena Krester, Brayden and Nikolai Weil, Gaberiella and Joshua Scutt, CJ Gopalon; great grandson Ryan Posten; sisters Doris and Jutta; brother Gerhardt of Germany; as well as numerous brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are beloved pets, Sheva and Ralph “Black Cat”.

The family will be celebrating Ed’s life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Ed can be made to the Tribes Hill Fire Department P.O. Box 112, Tribes Hill, NY 12177.

Ed’s care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam.
